The Sikes Disposal Pits was listed as number 32 on the National Priority List by EPA. Remediation was accomplished using an on-site incinerator on the banks of the San Jacinto River in Harris County Texas. The project was awarded the highest award for engineering excellence in Texas. It addition, it was featured as the cover story in the Engineering News Record--an internationally distributed magazine in the engineering/construction industry.

Tom Davis served as the construction/remediation manager responsible for a team of eleven full-time on-site inspectors and administrators providing services 24/7/365 during the incineration phase. 

The project was built using a federal grant with the remaining funding from the State of Texas.
